Le Petit Trianon

This white lacquer and gilded bronze piano embody the spirit of Le Petit Trianon. While being a ‘smaller’ and ‘simpler’ palace than the Grand Palais, it is an integral part of the sparkle of Versailles. The laconic timelessness of the traditional piano form is at the center of this instrument. The 24k gilded appliqué plays off of the classic proportional beauty of the rim‘s curve and lateral symmetry of the front of the piano. On each side is an elaborate garland of gleaming gold descending and merging with the gold adornments of the squared-off leg pillars. This thoughtful design choice elongates the appearance of the legs making the garland optically a high-reaching crown. The side crests feature an iconic rococo shell rosette encircled by similar garlands. The fallboard and the keyboard sides are accentuated by classic leaf patterns looking opulent in 24K gold. The laurel leaf wreath gently outlining the pedal lyre is an elegant allusion to the Apollonian nature of music.
