The Golden Age
We tend to imagine a grand world of the past when we hear the expression “The Golden Age.” It is now, however. The pinnacle of centuries of style, craft, and artistic imagination, The Golden Age grand piano is simply out of this world. A fantasy of this kind of luxury was not even imaginable in the time of Rococo, as technologies that made this piano possible did not exist.
What makes this piano unlike all the others is that the laconic, unaltered shape of the piano in its simplest form appears captured by the gigantic Rococo carving in a soft passionate embrace. The piano seems to be surfing the gilded wave that breaks against its sides in the wild arabesque.
This is where the 21 century meets the 18th – and this marvelous grand piano represents the transmigration of style that only legacy Italian artisans can conceive of and produce. The entire body of the piano is made of mother-of-pearl octagonal intarsia, imbuing the surface with myriad refractions in the unique patterns of each tiny piece of the precious material. Like Venus, the simple form of the piano emerges for the seafoam of pother-of pearl. The giant seashell-themed carvings of the legs and lower supporting beam allude further to the seaborne nature of the same material this piano is made of. All the woodwork is gilded in gloss and matte 24K gold; the music stand, the support beam, and the inside of the rim are gold-leafed by hand. To complete an already magical creation, the inside of the lid features a full side painting of mythological nature with ancient ruins by the seaside basking in a golden hour of Mediterranean midday. If there ever was a life-changing piano – this is the one. To the owner, it is a prized possession and a source of daily wonder. To the guests being in the presence of The Golden Age is the day they will never forget.
