Blüthner’s proprietary acrylic formula is denser than wood, so it acts as a more powerful amplifier, giving the piano a bigger, brighter sound. The individuality of the tone is also achieved by shaving and needling the felt on the hammers, which are exactly the same as on the traditional concert grand Blüthner.
Less effected by humidity changes
Due to the unique molecular structure of bespoke acrylic, it is much more weather resistant, as it does not swell or shrink as wood does when exposed to humidity or dryness. Having a high-end acrylic piano in a humid/coastal location will require much less fuss with keeping all the doors shut and temperature controlling the room, as traditional piano requires in order to be in top condition.
The cosmetic maintenance of Blüthner Lucid acrylic pianos is minimal, and they should be wiped with a microfiber cloth which is lightly sprayed with the acrylic polish we provide.
